Policies and Procedures

Here is bit about what to expect when staying at the Parker House.

 

NON-SMOKING FACILITY:

Smoking is prohibited anywhere in the house or porches.  If you smoke in the house or in your room, you'll be asked to check out immediately, and the remainder of the room charge will be forfeited.  You will be charged with any costs for the removal of smells from beds, bedding, upholstry, carpets and rugs, towels, wall hangings, etc.

FOOD AND HEALTH ACCOMODATION:

We understand the difficulty of living and traveling with special food requirements.  We maintain a gluten free kitchen ourselves.  We are happy to cook in any way necessary to provide you with the most delicious and nutritious breakfast possible.

 

WE LOVE KIDS:

We welcome children, we a have a couple ourselves.  We want them to enjoy their stay, but we need them to be safe.  We do not have a childproofed house.  We ask that all visiting children abide by the same safety and basic behavior rules we require our children to obey to ensure their safety and protect the house and furniture.  We reserve the right to inform you and your children if behavior is dangerous or inappropriate and to bodily remove children from danger if urgently necessary.  (ie. We will pick up your toddler and carry him to you if he is found climbing on the table as mine has done.)

RATES:

Our rates are based on season and double occupancy.  They may change at any time at our sole discretion.  11% Sales and Lodging taxes apply to all rates.    Promotional offers or discounts are sometimes available.  Rates posted on the website are current or typical rates and may not apply to all dates based on Special events or availability.

FORM OF PAYMENT:

We gladly accept Cash or major credit cards: Visa, Master Card, Discover, American Express.  We may also accept personal or company checks, on an as needed basis.

DEPOSIT and CANCELLATIONS:

A deposit of half the total due is required to confirm a reservation.  If you are paying your deposit by credit card, the deposit amount may be charged to your credit card account or to your bank account (debit cards) at the time the reservation is made. The remaining balance is due upon arrival (Special Events due 30 days prior to arrival).  If other purchases are made, such as from the gift shop or purchasing additional services, payment in full will be made immediately.  There are no refunds for early checkouts or changes in arrival unless you notify us 7 days in advance.  Cancellations must also be made 7 days (Special Events 30 days) prior to arrival or the deposit will be forfeited.  Cancellations may be charged a $20.00 administrative fee to cover the service charges associated with making the credit card charge/reversal.  Special deposit and cancellation procedures may apply for groups, wedding parties and for all Special Events.

TALLADEGA RACE WEEKEND CANCELLATIONS:

Confirmed reservations for the weekends of races at the Talladega Speedway (whenever they occur) are non-refundable.  

ROOM TARIFFS AND CAPACITY:

Room rates quoted are per night unless otherwise stated in a package plan. Rates are for Single or Double occupancy. There is an additional charge for a third or fourth person in a room.  Some rooms have space to accommodate a child bed or twin sized air mattress.  Please ask about availability.

SPECIAL EVENTS:

These include certain holidays, major conventions, festivals or cultural events, Bike Races, etc.  Higher rates & minimum stays may apply.

CHECK-IN TIME:

Rooms may not be available until 3:00 P.M.  However, we can accommodate your luggage if you arrive before this time.  We want to know your approximate arrival time so we can be home to greet you and check you in.  In certain instances, especially late at night, we can arrange to leave you an access code for the front entrance and your room key in a secure location. If your arrival time changes due to weather or other delay, please keep us updated so we can arrange a quick and stress-free check-in.

CHECK-OUT TIME:

Our check out time is 11:00 A.M. which affords us the opportunity to prepare our rooms for arriving guests.  However, do not feel pressured to leave.  You are welcome to enjoy the public areas of our house and grounds.  Arrangements can be made to store luggage until you leave or to be picked up later in the day.

PARKING:

Upon arrival, it is easiest to park on driveway round in front of the house and unload luggage.  Overnight parking is at the rear of the house.  Just pull straight through the portico.  There is a flight of stairs up from the lower parking lot.  If the walk or stairs is difficult for you, or if we have more cars than typical, we can usually park your car for you.  To respect the neighborhood we try to keep additional cars off limited street parking.

PETS AND CRITTERS:

Sorry, we love pets but they are not appropriate for our house.  Well-behaved, leashed animals are welcome on the grounds.   We can refer you to nearby pet care facilities that accept your family friend during your visit.  Within walking distance is No Board-em Pet Services which hosts pets in a home setting for very reasonable rates.   Please ask about special arrangements for service animals.

GUESTS WITH MOBILITY CONCERNS OR DISABILITIES:

Guest rooms located on the second floor are accessible by our grand staircase that features original hand carved appointments and detailing. The main entrance has a granite staircase.  The historical value of these rooms and stairways has not been disturbed. All exterior entrances are up stairs.  Wheelchair entrance requires special arrangement to rent a lift or to set up a ramp.  Many door widths throughout the house are 30-32 inches.  We designed the bath of our main floor guest room to be as accessible and usable as possible given the space limitations.  To the best of our ability, we want to accommodate our guests’ special needs.  Please talk with us about what arrangements you need and what arrangements we can provide.

EMERGENCY SYSTEMS:

Our bed and breakfast facility is equipped with modern sprinkler and fire alarm systems for our guests’ safety.

UNUSUAL REQUESTS: 

If you want to do something a bit unusual for that special someone, or you need to locate a special souvenir. Please ask us!  Of course it must be legal and within reason. We’ll find out about it or get it for you, for a modest fee, if it involves the purchase of goods or services. Go ahead, make our day with your request. We love the challenge!
